A New Leader is required if Strollers is to continue
The group was founded in 2008 to meet the needs of a number of U3A members who enjoyed walking, but could only manage short distances. We walk on alternate Saturday mornings throughout the year.
Walks are mostly in and around Rotherham. It never ceases to amaze us that we have such lovely countryside and parkland on our doorstep with pretty villages such as Whiston, Laughton and Wentworth, woodland in Wickersley, Treeton and Scholes, waterside walks at Old Moor Wetlands, Ulley and Rother Valley Country Park, even a swannery and boatyard near the town Centre.
It is expected that walks will be on varying terrain and environments and will usually be between 3 and 5 miles in length taking roughly 2 hours to complete.

• Our walks take place in almost all weather conditions, unless very extreme, and over mixed terrain, which can often be rugged, muddy and include the occasional style.
• Everyone joins the walks at their own risk so please ensure that you prepare adequately; wear appropriate clothing and footwear, carry waterproofs and snacks or drinks as required etc.
Please note: for insurance purposes, only assistance dogs are allowed on our walks and these must be on a short lead at all times.
We walk all through the year and welcome new members, Planned walks are as below
All walks to start at 10am. Meet at: 09:50 am
Please note that walks could be cancelled at short notice in bad weather. We therefore encourage members to join our WhatsApp group to enable us to communicate any changes or cancellations quickly and efficiently
Because most members now travel by car and buses can be infrequent and unreliable, please offer lifts and car-share where possible. We will endeavour to plan a variety of walks with convenient parking, mostly within the Rotherham area but occasionally a little further afield.

YOU CAN ALSO CLICK THE LINK ON THIS PAGE TO SEE AN ARTICLE ON THEIR FIRST WALK (after being closed during the Covid pandemic) Along the Rotherham canal Tow Path. 'Strollers walk on 5th June 21'. Since then walks have mainly been circular, so that as many people as possible could travel to the start by car and also give other members a lift.
There are also several articles and photos on various walks, please click the links on this page to view - including a Walk and Meal to celebrate 15 years of strolling! (April 2023)
